The evidence stays visible.

Text, interpretation, and personal study remain separate layers.

What is included

8 complete imported witnesses · 279 reading sections · 9,629 source blocks · 350,752 Han-character occurrences · 5,184 distinct Han graphs.

172 excerpt-level teaching notes and English reading aids · 30 linked grammar topics. Every passage has a computed reading guide, exact-source recall practice, personal interpretation fields, and a device-local review schedule. Automatic guides use written forms and punctuation; they do not assign contextual senses or supply a translation.

Sunzi has 13 received chapters plus one alternate 行軍 section. The Mao Shijing witness includes received prefaces and prose notes; displayed counts include these explicitly labelled layers.

“Complete” refers to the text files in these pinned witnesses, not all textual witnesses, commentaries, excavated manuscripts, or the whole Classical language.

Spelling and pronunciation

The reading text preserves the chosen witness. Global script preference does not rewrite quotations. Modern Mandarin or Cantonese character readings can aid study, but they are not resolved passage readings or reconstructions of ancient pronunciation.

How the text was prepared

Exact UTF-8 source files and their SHA-256 values are retained. HTML reading text removes encoding headers, page/paragraph markers, whitespace and leading section numbers; spelling and punctuation are otherwise preserved. Numbered Shijing poem headings become section metadata; source lineation is retained for optional display. Front matter from the new repositories is retained as original files and excluded from reading passages. Passage units follow the supplied source blocks and are not asserted to be original ancient divisions. Stable local IDs identify this pinned import; a new source edition must be reconciled before reusing IDs.

Punctuation belongs to the digital witness, not necessarily the ancient composition. Hiding it is a reversible reading exercise; it does not recreate an excavated manuscript. Any source anomaly remains visible.

What the English means

zimai · AI-assisted editorial notes. Notes and translations explain selected excerpts, not every word of a full passage. These drafts are not independently reviewed and do not substitute for a critical edition. Alternatives and unresolved readings are marked where identified.

Reuse

Imported text derivatives and original teaching additions: CC BY-SA 4.0. Every exported passage card retains work, source, attribution, version, and licence. Personal notes are separately labelled.
